What is ISO 9001:2015 Certification?

The ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the international standard for quality management systems (QMS). It is the most widely used QMS standard in the world, with over a million certificates issued to organizations in 178 countries.
The ISO 9000 standards are made up of a variety of documents related to quality management but ISO 9001 is the only standard in the series that requires certification.
ISO 9001 provides a framework that ensures member organizations are committed to providing high-quality products and services that meet the customer and regulatory requirements for their particular industry.
An organization that is ISO 9001 certified is required to define and follow a quality management system that is appropriate and effective for its industry. They’re also responsible for identifying areas where potential improvements can be made and fulfilling them. As a result, organizations holding this certification are assumed to have products and services that meet quality standards.
It is important to note however that this certification is not a standard for products. Rather, it is a processed-based standard used to control a businesses’ practices, which in the end provides a final product that meets desired results.
